Community of Joy Adds Stephen Ministry

Community of Joy Lutheran Church is pleased and honored to add Stephen Ministry to the ministries of its church.  Stephen Ministry provides congregations with structure, training, and resources to administer a complete system for lay caring ministry.  In Stephen Ministry congregations, lay caregivers (called Stephen Ministers) provide one-on-one Christian care to the bereaved, hospitalized, terminally ill, separated, divorced, unemployed, relocated, and others facing a crisis or life challenge.

This is not counseling or social work - it is trained Christian folks who listen and care.  Stephen Ministers are the caregivers and we consider God to be the cure-giver.  This past Sunday, March 21st, we proudly commissioned Sandy Mostrog and Jim Smith as new Stephen Ministers.  Community of Joy also has two Stephen Leaders - Pastor Ross Worch and Cheryl Worch.  Our newly trained Stephen Ministers trained alongside six members of Woodlands Presbyterian Church.  We thank God for their partnership with us in this endeavor.

Two members of Community of Joy Lutheran Church become Stephen Ministers. Pastor Ross Worch (Stephen Leader), Sandy Mostrog and Jim Smith (new Stephen Ministers) and Cheryl Worch (Stephen Leader)
