Members present:  Pastor Veit, Carla Olson, Les Daniels, Mary Lou Caden, Jerry Barnoske, John Tidquist, Eileen Miller, Al Ness, Bonnie Kierstyn, Lance Miller and June Palmquist.  Absent:  Jan Folstad.   Guests: Willie and Jean Wilcox, and Jeff and Anne King.

Willie and Jean Wilcox, and Jeff and Anne King were recently received as new members of CJoy.  They were invited to the council meeting, introduced to each council member and the council members then described the functions of their committees.  After all were introduced, the guests left the meeting.

President Lance Miller called the meeting to order.

I.    DEVOTIONS - Led by John Tidquist.  Bonnie Kierstyn will have them in October, Eileen Miller will have them in November.

II.  MINUTES - as printed - June Palmquist
      a.  Motion by John Tidquist, seconded by Mary Lou Caden to accept minutes as  printed.  In the future, minutes will be e-mailed to the council members.

III.  COMMITTEE REPORTS

        A.  CHRISTIAN EDUCATION - as printed - Bonnie Kierstyn
              1.  Bonnie is compiling a list of videos, cassettes, tapes & DVD's for the Lending Library.

        B.  BUSINESS SERVICES - No Report

        C.  EVANGELISM  - as printed - Carla Olson
              1.  Committee is working on the display for the HSV Community Fair, which will be held on September 27^th from 10:00-2:00.

        D.  FINANCE  - Les Daniels
              1.  Will start work on the budget in October.  Committee members need to be thinking about budget needs for the coming year.

        E.  MISSIONS - as printed - Mary Lou Caden
              1.  Ouachita Children's Center is requesting school supplies.
              2.  World Hunger offering will be collected in October.

        F.  MUTUAL MINISTRY - as printed - Jerry Barnoske
              1.  Cottage Groups - Have two co-hosts for each of the eight cottage groups.
              2.  Working on a way to identify members who are not attending services.
             3.  Suggestion Box

                  a.  Suggestion to change from two services to one service on Sunday.  Following discussion, council agreed to survey the members about this.
                  b.  Brochures on table in narthex - Will check on ways to display these so they are more organized and displayed in a neater fashion.

      G.  PROPERTY - as printed - John Tidquist
             1.  Working on volunteer schedule to clean church on Monday mornings.
             2.  Working on volunteer schedule to close the church after both services.
             3.  Garage Sale is Friday, October 13^th - Need items for this sale.
             4.  Yard Clean-up - Howard Olson, Les Daniels, Jim Erickson and Ken Waggoner helped pull weeds between parking lot and the street.

      H.  WORSHIP & MUSIC - as printed - Eileen Miller
            1.  Celebration Choir will sing on the 5^th Sunday, weekends and special services only.
            2.  Reformation Sunday - October 29^th - Wear red!

IV.   CORRESPONDENCE
        1.  Bethany College
        2.  Wartburg Theological Seminary - Mary Lou will contact the seminary and request someone to speak to our congregation.

V.   PASTOR'S REPORT - as printed
        1.  Pastor Bill Stewart will preach on Reformation Sunday.
        2.  Resigned as interim pastor as of October 23^rd, or earlier if call is accepted.

         1. Call Committee - Two members of Call Committee and their spouses will visit candidate's church in MO the weekend of September 17^th.
         2.  Cottage Ministry Update - discussed earlier during Mutual Ministry report.

VIII.  NEW BUSINESS
          1.   Interfaith Council Rep from CJoy
                a.  Jim & Sharon Hess have resigned from this position.  Need to find a replacement.
                b.  Procedure for preparing for "Letter of Call" - After visits are complete, candidate will be invited to CJoy for interview.  If approved, "Letter of Call" process will follow.
