You have probably heard me quote Psalm 118, verse 24 as I say, “This is the day the Lord has made - we will rejoice and be glad in it.”  That is often easier said than done - isn’t it?  Our attitude toward life and the world

a gift, and as long as my eyes open I’ll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I’ve stored away... just for this time in my life.”

Old age is like a bank account... you withdraw from what you’ve put in.  Remember these five simple rules to be happy:

1)  free your heart from hatred,

2) free your mind from worries,

3) live simply,

4) give more,

5) expect less.

No one can go back and make a brand new start, however, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending. (End of story)

Wow!  Words and advice don’t get much better than that!  I pray that we will all heed the wise words of this saintly woman and of God’s Word and teachings.

Cheryl and I marvel at our good fortune to be with you here in Hot Springs Village.  We thank you and we praise God for this opportunity.

We wish each of you a Blessed Easter!  Today is the day the Lord has made - God would have us rejoice and be glad in it!  Joy to you all!

has a great effect on whether we are happy or sad - optimistic or pessimistic each day.  The following story deals with “attitude” - and I think it gives us a superb lesson in how we can live our daily lives in a godly manner.  The story:

This 92 year old, petite, well-poised, and proud lady - who is fully dressed each morning by eight o’clock - with her hair neatly “fixed,” and her makeup perfectly applied (even though she is legally blind), moved to a nursing home today.  Her husband of 70 years recently died, making this move necessary.

After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home she smiled sweetly when she was told that her room was ready.  As she maneuvered her walker to the elevator, a visual description of her room was provided, including the eyelet curtains that had been hung by her window.  “I love it,” she stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented a new puppy!

“Mrs. Jones - you haven’t seen the room - just wait!” said the attendant.  “That doesn’t have anything to do with it,” Mrs. Jones replied.  “Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time.  Whether I like my room or not doesn’t depend on how the furniture is arranged... it’s how I arrange my mind.  I already decided to love it.  It’s a decision I make every morning when I wake up.  I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work well, or I can get out of bed and be thankful for the parts that do work.  Each day is
