I came across this “note” several years ago: Dear Friend, You are not totally responsible for doing everything, taking care of everything, and taking care of everybody. That’s my job.  Love, God.

That “note” emphasizes the fact that many of us “take on the responsibilities of the world” and

of all things and the One responsible for this universe.  And, may we also understand that we must be God’s eyes and ears, God’s hands and feet, God’s voice and presence here on earth.  Because of God’s love, may we, through the power of the Holy Spirit, go forward and do godly things, and care for people - not just in this season, but in all seasons!

To God be the glory!  Cheryl and I wish each of you a blessed, Christ-filled Christmas and a joy-filled New Year!

don’t even realize that we are cutting God out of the equation.  As I’ve mentioned several times since I’ve been here - it’s a matter of focus!

We are entering that wonderful season of the year in which most people seem to care for their “neighbors” more than usual.  This is the season of joy and love.  It is the season of peace and caring for all people.  Our hearts seem more open to forgiveness and love during this season.  We talk of “peace on earth, and goodwill to all.”

God’s action in sending Jesus to be with us is a powerful example of love.  Our most famous Bible passage speaks to this: “For God so loved the world...” (John 3:16).  God loved the world so much that God was willing to have the Son of God become “one of us” (remember - Emmanuel means “God with us”).  God came to be with us as a little baby and then he suffered and died for us as a 33 year old preacher and teacher from Nazareth.  And finally, this Baby of Bethlehem, who grew to be an excellent teacher (Rabbi), was raised from the dead so that we all might live.  That’s what the birth of Jesus is all about - love and life!  God’s magnificent and unconditional love; and the Bread of Life - our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

“O come let us adore him, O come let us adore him, O come let us adore him - Christ the Lord.”  During this Christmas season I pray that we all might realize the enormity of God’s love for us as we once again welcome this “miracle baby.”  May we realize that God is the Creator
